A general topic about posting pictures from other sites.

Sometimes I see that pictures are posted here on the board from other sites.
    I don't understand this.
The Wilders forum gives you the opportunity to upload pictures here.
So you don't need to post pictures from other sites.

There are free and not-free programs that will allow you to take a screenshot of something that is happening on your system.

Pictures from sites as imageshack are not needed in any way.
First uploading them to imageshack and then post them here, it is not needed.
Take a screenshot of whatever is happening on your system, and then upload them here in your posting.

Pictures from other sites, not taken from your own system, are also not needed.
Just giving a link to that particular site, where that picture is shown, is enough.
Not any need to post such a picture in img tags. Just give the link, and those folks who want to see it, can go there.

    Hi lodore and travellinman,

Please let me first say that I had no intention to offend anyone !

    In general:
We are on a security forum.
Any picture (or other file) posted that is directly linked to a source outside the board could in theory be a "danger".

    Sorry for bad English !

I'm with you FanJ, but out of different reasons. The malicious image or link could be a threat to security, but IMO the main reason against outside links is the consistency of a thread. If the link expires (and imageshack will), you often lose the essence of the topic discussed in that thread. Wilders is like a base of knowledge and it will be nice if all threads remain consistent for future reference. So I agree, please stop posting pics with outside links... :)

    Yep ;)

But at least users have in that case the option to click on that link or not.

I admit that I didn't think of the chance that a link could expire

    Yep ;)

    You're too right lodore :)

Blowing up the margins of a thread is indeed not something we would like to see.
Try to keep the margins within the limits (left<->right).

Well, of course there could be always a chance that a picture (file) uploaded here might be dangerous.
But we are at a security forum ;) ;)

    Hey lodore, travellinman, The Seer,
Thanks for your input fellow members !!! :D
