WEP encryption totally broken

It has been broken for quite some time now, but I guess you save two minutes in breaking it

The solution is definitly WPA or WPA2 or authpf+openvpn

seems i need to enable the better encryption on my router
but wtf do i do about my nintendo ds?
it only supports wep encrytion not wpa or wpa2.

You can set the SSID of your router to not transmit, should work as long as your DS can save the SSID in it's settings. You can also enable MAC address restrictions in your router.

 

i can disable the broadcast of the ssid your right.
i cant find the mac filtering in my bthome hub thou.
ive found all the mac addresses i need to imput but cant find the option.
i know my old bt voyager 2091 had that option but the bt home hub doesnt seem to

If someone can break your WEP key, MAC filtering isn't going to do anything nor is hiding your SSID. Any half-way decent scanner picks up all access points because disabling SSID only disables a portion of the different beacons access points send out. Also, MAC filtering is worthless and only a hassle, since MAC addresses are sent in the clear, and most WEP cracking programs include a MAC address sniffer.

If you want real security (aka WPA, WPA2), then you will have to buy a nintendo usb wifi connector which will hook into your pc and transmit a signal that only your DS will work on.
