Angry newbie question

I have a drive that will not boot. How can I get it to boot with all programs ready to work?? Impossible?

Can I just back up the programs and then restore to a new win xp install?

If I back up the whole drive and then install windows xp again, and then restore the true image backup, will it be the same as now?? unbootable??

this is what happened, I took the c drive out and put it in another machine, format and installed windows....then put a new 200 gig drive into my computer that already has 2 other drives that I duel booted before. Not knowing I was taking all the boot information away when I took the C drive out.

I can't do a "repair" in windows either, on the unbootable drives. It only gives me the install clean option.

Don
