Detection and heuristic wise, NOD32 is better. I believe AVG is less problematic out of the two though. I believe NOD32 updates more. In past experiences with AVG, it only updated once a day and didn't update on sundays. NOD32 also has a complex interface from what i hear while AVG has a simple one. I hear their GUIs are not too good. Resource usage im not too sure of I know they are both light but as a wild guess i wil say NOD32 is lighter.

they can just buy it set it up using blackspear settings and forgot about it lodore

you dont know that malwaredie, the anti-malware results are yet to surface from IBK.
and as for interfaces, AVG is definatly better than NOD32, although nod32 has the more complex-confirgurations if you into that, both run seemlessly, avg will run the best out of the two, based on pc performance, but nod32 has a faster scan speed, both update about the same amount, you choose. |

I have a current license for both of these products, both are good products in my opinion, but I like AVG Anti-Malware the best.

There's no comparison, NOD32 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than AVG, even AVG Free is not worth for using.

I'm actually suprised this is even an issue. Of course NOD32 is better. IBK said so himself. Ewido or not, AVG is not a good product. If you are going to use a producy simply because of the interface, well just don't. For that matter don't not use a product because of the interface. At 33 meg AVG anti-malware is a very heavy product. Stick with NOD32, the product that knows what they are doing and has the track record to prove it.

I don't have a problem running either one of these antiviruses, but with over 40 million users worldwide, I'd say AVG is doing something right, it may not be a "boutique" antivirus program or a "top tier" antivirus program according to that IBK guy, but it seems to get the job done for many users, me included. One man's trash, another man's treasure

Grisoft has users because they have a free version and it has semi-adequate detection. That's really the only reason, people like free and couls care less about something being the best. If you ask me AVG just provides a false sense of secirity.

Personally, I run NOD32 (first license) on my main box and AVG Anti-Malware on my secondary box, before that I used the AVG Antivirus Pro version, and I must say, I have never been infected using AVG all these years, including the free version. That's been my experience, as well as many of my friends and family. Your mileage may vary...

Between those, NOD32. AVG is a good AV, but it seems far from NOD's performance. Money not being an issue.
Still, consider Antivir or Avast! ...

Especially, when it comes to the innovation which an antivirus software supposed to develop, I think I can't really find it in AVG, AVG's popularity is nothing more than marketing and overrated claim.
You can use AVG and not having the infections for all of your life, it depends on many factors, but when it comes to the antivirus innovation, I think you can't find it in AVG. IMHO |

My opinion, being a licensed user of both products: NOD32 is better than AVG Anti-Malware, but not by too much. Yes, NOD has better detection rates, and it has the better interface. So go for NOD. But AVG is not a bad product at all.
Saying that AVG is not comparable to NOD would mean that Dr.Web is also not comparable to NOD in terms of detection rates, as Dr.Web and AVG have about the same score in AV-comparatives (August 2006, not the current one). AVG has protected my computer quite well, and Grisoft's support and virus submission service are IMO among the best.

and nod32 is not install and forget?
the default settings in nod32 are more than good enough. its not hard to use nod32. if you want to keep it simple keep it on default settings run a scan e.g. once a week. my point is dont put newbies of nod32 because it is way better than avg free. i know some people that P2P when using avg free and think they are protected but there is no way they are. avg free=false sence of security people use it because its free no other reason lodore
