Do the Maxtor OneTouch usb hard drives have on/off switches?

I believe there are two series of those USB drives. The less expensive series (like mine) doesn't have an on/off switch, but I'm pretty sure the higher priced series do. Other than the switch and some backup software (which only comes with the higher priced models), the hard drive is the very same.

Do you ever wish you had an on/off switch? I have two external drives and I switch them off after I do my backups. I was under the impression that the 160g Maxtor OneTouch came with disc management and file backup software. Is that not the case?

For me it's not necessary because I have it plugged into a 'Master Power-Surge Bar' which controls on/off for all of my PC equipment.

As an Acronis TI user, I didn't need/want their backup software, but if an on/off switch or software is important to you, just be sure to check for it before buying the Maxtor.

Fwiw, the drive works great with TI.

It's very quiet (if it weren't for the front indicator light, I would have a hard time telling it was on)! And before you ask, it's fast for a USB2 drive! Mine is a year old and has never given me problems of any kind.

Hth, I'm outa here.

The included backup software will not backup the operating system, but files only. It was for that reason I sought out TI.

It works well together, as mentioned above.
