Question Should I renew Spy Sweeper?

I've had a Spy Sweeper subscription now for 2 years and I've felt great peace of mind with no issues whatsoever with Spy Sweeper but it's time to renew my subscription in 28 days. Just wondering... should I renew Spy Sweeper? Or is there a better anti-spyware product out there as far as detection rates go for spyware?

Thank you,

Gracie

Spy Sweeper had good reviews lately. It still seems to be ranked near the top!!

If you like SS and have had no problems for two years then you should stick with it. I had SS for two years until about three months ago. The AV integration did not go over with me that well and the program seemed to be getting pretty bloated. Right now I am trying SuperAdBlocker with the built in SAS and I like it a lot. SS has really powerful active protection and I will try to see how SAS measures up to it over the next few days.

One thing about SpySweeper, they spam the heck out of you once your subscription runs out. So if you decide to try out a few other programs you'll still probably get a decent deal on SS should you later decide to renew. I have seen SS at Frys.com with a mail in offer that essentially makes the program free minus shipping. Give SuperAntiSpyware a try (or SuperAdBlocker w/SAS if you need an ad/banner blocker). They have a competitive upgrade offer should you decide to switch.

Other than SAS, another AS program that has powerful realtime protection is A-squared. It may be worth a try as well. But A-squared seems to have a few more false positives than other top notch AS programs.

Several months ago I was able to acquire SS w/ a 2 year subscription for $14.95. Needless to say I quit using it since SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS) is superior in every way. You can also leave the real-time protection running with virtually zero impact on system performance. Webroot support is pathetic whereas SAS has some of the best support in the industry. SAS is also available w/ a lifetime subscription so you don't have to worry about renewal fees.

SS is a excellent anti-spyware program, so i would stay with it if you got no problems with it. I personally also got it for around 2 years with no problems.

Sunbelt Counterspy and Pctools Spyware Doctor are also great choices.

also spysweeper has caused quite alot of bsods in the 5 x versions including the last which is the very worst.
if you have the spysweeper shields on then close IE7 it causes a bsod everytime
it happerned to me twice. i tryed it again to make sure that was what was causing it.
then i turned off the shields and IE7 closes fine.

Hi everyone, well at this point I think I will take a look at Superantispyware. I have 2GB of memory so I am not to worried about slowness of the PC and all.

But, I will definetly look into Superantispyware.

Thanks all!

If it 'aint broke, don't fix it.
It may be that you will "fix it till it breaks."

That doesn't mean that your system prevent instability, use a lot of CPU, etc.

if it uses alot of cpu it doesnt matter if you have dual core or even quad core it can still use alot of the cpu if it spikes

My feeling is that if you are happy, then you should consider staying with it.

In my case, I didn't stay with SS at work. Although Webroot has tweaked the memory usage, it still slows down everything. I made some judgement calls at work and put Windows Defender on the PCs that were less at risk and SUPERAntiSpyware Pro on the others. SAS Pro runs sooo much smoother than SS. So far, so good...

If you are happy with Spy Sweeper then stay with it. It is really your personal decision and what you are comfortable with.

I had Spy Sweeper on my machine about 6 monhts ago, but it was really making my machine slow. So thats why i changed it. I didnt have any problems with it.
