Default What spyware software works with Vista 64 bit

I currently have a subscription with spysweeper but it doesn't work with vista 64 bit, I currently am using Windows Defender but I'm not too sure how good their detection rates are. Do any of you people know of an Anti-Spyware that will run well with Vista 64 bit and has detection rates as good or better than Spysweeper

Superantispyware does. Im waiting for the AVG-Antispyware vista 64 bit version. Hope it will soon be ready. Meanwhile, im doing fine with nod32, superspyware and windows defender as real time guards

The only 2 programs that i see so far that appear to work with Vista 64 bit are Spyware Doctor Beta and SuperAntiSpyware, Do you guys know if there are any others, which of these 2 are better? How would you rate Windows Defender also?

Anti-spyware software is questionable as a requirement with XP/2K, with Vista it clearly shouldn't be needed at all, besides the few extra confirmation dialogues that Vista prompts with it's new security features , many software isn't even capable of running on Vista currently - example your question about AS applications. If legit software isn't capable of running on Vista, do you think malware would? Given the adoption of Vista will be extremely slow if at all, I doubt it'll be targeted any time soon. If that times comes to be, Vista protections and WinDefender should be more than enough. Save your money and stop the search.

Sounds like a convincing argument, but im a little paranoid, something on the machine told me there was some kind of spyware, i dont remember where i saw it or what program told me, but both KIS6.0 for Vista and Windows Defender have not found anything, I trust KIS but it isnt really made for spyware, i have not heard anything good about windows defender so i would prefer another level of protection.

Kaspersky covers all sorts of malware, spyware included, you won't need anything more than you've already got. The fact that you're concerned/aware about infections is a good thing, it means you're careful with your activities, that alone will provide your best protection. You'd be better off purchasing an imaging product, then you can forget about infections altogether and proceed without caution, trying anything and everything, keeping regular backups and also a good clean system image to restore. It's a one off purchase, no subscription, make an image, then try whatever you like, and restore the image when your done - life is much funner with do-overs. The only difficultly would be to find an imaging program that currently does work with Vista, if they aren't compatible yet, I'm sure they soon will be.

Good Luck with your quest.

Acronis true image 10 seems to work with this version of Windows Vista, even so i still would feel more comfortable with a seperate anti-spyware program

If you want an antispyware program for vista, more power to you. Go with superantispyware pro for realtime, or the free scanner. Later AVG antispyware will be vista ready so there is another option, I know I will use superantispyware along with the rest of my security if I ever get vista. Trend Micro antispyware might be vista ready, which is a good program too, but overall I'm not sure if any of these work with vista 64 bit version.

ok, I tried to install Spyware Doctor Beta, it said it isn't currently supported in 64 bit vista so I tried to install SuperAntiSpyware Pro and that installed and seems to be working ok, I'm guessing eventually all these programs will be vista 64 bit compatible, So what I need to figure out now since I have a 30 day trial of SuperAntiSpyware Pro is what will be the best Anti-Spyware program for me, as I originally said I have another year or so left on spysweeper but not currently compatible, what do you guys think is or will be the best anti-spy for vista 64 bit
