spinrite isnt rele for monitoring, its more for data recovery and disk maintenance.

if u want to check/monitor you disk's SMART status u can use Speedfan or HD Tune

i have not yet tried Spinrite for data recovery, but i found GetDataBack to do very well at that task.

for disk maintenance, i just use Windows's chkdsk to check for errors. if i suspect bad sectors i may use HD Workbench or Western Digitial's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. the manufacturer of your hard disk may provide a similar utility.

Have a dual-boot system with a Seagate and a Maxtor drive. Will check what is available, I see where they are one company now.
