Default Rightfinder

Hi guys,

Rightfinder got me also.

I have run updated versions of adAware, Spybot S&D, and CWShredder. I also ran HiJack This, and removed everything that said rightfinder. I must be missing something, because rightfinder seems to return every 2nd or 3rd time I re-boot and launch IE6. Please help.

Thanks

Hi Tech2,

I don't spot the ADDCLASS.EXE that is normally responsible for this hijack.
Was that one of the things you removed?

You should at least install SP1 for IE6 and all security patches issued after that to help prevent this.

If it happens again, could you please download the latest version of HijackThis and post a new log before removing anything yourself.

Regards,

Pieter

Pieter,

Thank you for your prompt response. You guys provide quite a service here.

I don't recall if that was one of the items I removed. I will do as you requested, and if it reappears, I will post a new log.

Thanks again,

Gary

edit: I forgot to ask: The log file I posted shows IE6 SP1. Doesn't that indicate that I already have it? If not, how do I go about updating IE6 to SP1? Just go to MS and download the latest version?

Hi Tech2,

In the header of your log it shows (6.00.2600.0000) which should be
(6.00.2800.1106)
The WindowsUpdate site would be best, I think, because it indeed says SP1 (That's what I get for only looking at the numbers. )
That site will indicate what you are missing.

Keep us posted,

Pieter
