Good screen capture utility?

Hello. Would someone recommend a good screen capture utility? I am looking for something pretty easy to understand, lightweight, paid after a trial or freeware.

For me, it's free FastStone Capture. I paid for a screen capture program and within less than a week I stumbled onto FSC. I have never used the paid one since...

 

I use Windows Print Screen. I can capture the entire screen or just the window in focus (ALT + PrintScreen), paste into Photoshop and crop/resize, then save as .jpg, .png, .gif, whatever. And it's FREE!

Unless you need something with more features, it's pretty useful.

I also go with 'Faststone Capture'. Simple to handle, lots of functions and free.

 

It's with a trial and paid, SnagIt.

Like another poster, I went through a couple of these programs (and paid for one) before finding FastStone Capture. So easy it's ridiculous.

I'll 2nd Blue's choice of SnagIt. I particularly like its ability to capture contents to big for the screen or scrolling capture.

Depends, what do you want. I use XnView for multiple capture and Photofiltre for transparent.

Hmm, I though that IrfanView is a copy of XnView.
Just kidding, XnView is much more better, so it is unlikely.

Indeed it is, you can download additional stamps and see some tutorial movies or ask questions at their forum.
Also you may install it for example at home on your PC and on your laptop, but you may not use it simultaneously.

SnagIt is also my favourite app and gets my vote.

 

I also use Snagit when i need more proefessional Snapshots for tutorials on my homepage, it's a high end application for me. But 90% i do with Faststone for the 'simple one'.
