Running Win98SE with IE6.

Have used both SG and SB for 18 months + without problems. I run AVG, AdAware, SpyBot daily and have firewall software with my ADSL router.

Have noticed recently that during IE activity, the SG Real Time Scanning Engine switches itself off and so I go to options and reset it. At that same time, I find that SB shows between 1 and 3 items have protection disabled on both IE and Restricted Sites. I hit the "enable all protection" and this clears the problem for a few hours or a day or so.

I have run two different on-line scans to try to pick up any virus but they along with my other protection all show the PC is clean.

What is causing the problem and what can I do to correct it?

Would be grateful for some expert advice.
