What about previous versions of Adobe Reader (4-6)? Does anyone know if they are affected too, or are they perhaps a more secure alternative?

I found that version 6.0 is vulnerable if the plugins are installed.

chose to uninstall the reader & Acrobat on my platforms
substituting them with Foxit and PDFCreator

the current level of bloatware foisted off as the Adobe Reader had me using older versions off install CDs and I was running Acrobat 5
but Im much happier with the replacement lineup :D

    Hello,
In general in 97.43% of cases, mainstream bloat-software will have elegant, simple, secure, robust, fast alternatives in the open-source, free community.
