This is a placeholder, in order to be the first to post it ;)
Within next 20 hours the retrospective test report (incl. speed test and false alarm test) will be released on www.av-comparatives.org. It is very important that you read the report and not only the summary or the results (otherwise there will be a flood of unneeded questions).
Within next 1-2 weeks other 1-2 reports will be released.
the link to the weblog of av-comparatives is now reachable from the menu on the left side.

Absolutely right! When kaspersky releases there new heuristics (probably at the end of this year) and with there great signature detection and there proactive defense, they will be UNSTOPABLE!! . Ok maybe not unstopable but i think they will be far the best AV *puppy* :thumb: :isay:

And thanks IBK for the great tests you always make! (IBK stand for InnsBrucK?)

Just looking at the 'overview' of Nov 06 now... It seems that many of the AV's have performed worse than they did in previous retrospective tests, a lot less have scored the "Advanced +" and "Advanced" ratings than last time.

BTW, is there *any* official confirmation from Kaspersky that they are actually working on a scan based heuristic? I think someone confused scan based heuristic with their behaviour blocker module.

Don Pelotas has been discussing it on the kaspersky forum, not sure if this is classed as official?

As far as it was discussed in Kaspersky Forum, yes, they reported that there is a new heuristic scanner on the way and it will be released indipendently from the various KL builds via 'signature' updates (I guess).

When? No idea... or as they like to say... "when its ready"...

    Cheers,

Why is there no result for AVG in the overview tables? o_O

And yes, Kaspersky developers hinted in the official forums about a new heuristics engine. :)

I think it means it didn't score well enough to even make 'standard', same as VBA32 in August's test, but we'll have to wait for results to be sure.

Kaspersky acquired Advanced+ in the On-Demand test, not the retrospective/proactive test. In the previous retrospective test, Kaspersky had an "Advanced" (not Advanced+) rating, and now its dropped to Standard.

can i just make sure here,

restrospective tests are just to test the heuristics yeah? and not detection.

Yeah, all the samples IBK uses in retrospect are 'new', so no AV tested has a specific signature for them; so its testing the AV's generic signatures and heuristics.

ok, .. if they are 'new' who is it, that decides if they are malware or not.

I believe that straight after the tests in August (3 months ago) IBK and co keep the AV's used without updating them, then gather new malware that is found in the time up till now, but they don't update the AV's so when they test them in November they are testing newly identified malware against an AV that hasn't updated in 3 months.
So in answer to your question, I think it is the AV companies themselves that identify the samples as malware

No, it's true...a nov/dec date was originally targetted, but since this was maybe three months ago, it could of course easily be jan/feb 07 before it is released.

    Click on comparatives

then in the middle of the page:

"To get an overview of the comparatives, we summarized them in tables. You can find them here." <========

    Best regards.
