This thread was split off the Poll's thread: Virus (page2)

    o_O
If I wasn't infected then why would norton report it??

Am sure drive was weak, "new sounds", installed a "extra", lucky me!
Found this place and a source for "on-line" scan's
that all showed clear, but a new one today showed a file I got tucked away to be one!!!

ever heard of "mailpv",?? got it from "majorgeeks.com" Remembering it to be an email "covert ops" type program.

Now unsure if, to open or deleteo_O

also puter @ work, "server" of course, showed two "Java.NoCheat" on it when scaned with on-line "trend" scaner

so if not "really" infected, give some advice or have me send the file's to you! And when you can see if "real" or not.

    what do you think??

    )

    Thanks for the reply!
    Have read that.

Know that it doesn't mean actually infected, but, sys was doing weird stuff,(for me,weird as per my xpert's {brothers} allways just roll eyes), and I mean WEIRD, not letting into fav's , into fies on this puter, making games like "UNREAL" blue srceen me out (had bad mem do that before), and just all around slow to a crawl, (just like being @ work). And I don't know enough to really understand what is and isn't on task mngr so I ask about the really dumb question.

And not to skip the present danger, McAfee showed a zipped file "mailpv", to have a virus identified as "PWS-Progent" might have been "PWS-Proqent" hard to tell from the resolution I had set. Anyway, Have any advice for me on this one??

Also don't interpet my anger and frustration @ puter towards any body willing to bother to read or reply to my "Trip thu Billies house of glass", (reading about linus as much as can, hope that its not made of glass also!)
    :) :)

    Thanks "Pieter"

    Hi FukenFooser 007.5,

In IE > Tools > Internet-options > on the General tab > click Accessibility and see if anything is checked in there, that you didn't check yourself.
If so, uncheck it and let me know if that helps.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Re:Virus

This appears to be a false alarm. mailpv.exe is
Mail PassView v1.13 which displays name/user accounts and passwords of various email clients which I suppose is it's main use. I'm guessing it looks like a trojan to some antiviruses, because it targets outlook files and it's behavour, either that or Norton is purposely targetting such iffy tools which can be used to obtain passwords.

    http://riedersoft.ath.cx:85/~users/nirsoft/utils/mailpv.html
Claims this to be so. But whether you believe it or not is up to you.

Now, wait, 1st of all, THANKS TO ALL THAT REPLY!!!!!!!

OK set puter up doing multi-scan b4 getting some sleep,
eScan tool kit,(I am starting to love this one!), and AntiVir XP.

This what I find this morning!!!!!
    eScan= C:\windows\drivers~1\i386\HPLJ40~2.AVO.
infected by "BKCln.UnKnown"Virus. Action Taken: file deleted.

    Luke filewalker=
    C:\windows\system32\Active Scan
imscan.dll contains signature of the VBS script virus VBS/NewloveA
    deleted

Anybody want to see the file logs for that stuff ??

Now you might be able to see why "Brothers" just roll eyes @ me.
Why they got me my own puter, (to not touch Oldest one's, younger ones smart enough to live mutli-states away)!

Also my fav, "Its called windows not window" (self quote)

    Thanks again

    :) :) :)
