This is because F-secure uses the Ad-aware engine for spyware/adware, Adaware has not updated since the 19/9/06.

Hi Lodore,

I would say it is a good reason to have another good AS application. AdAware does not update daily or nearly as often as SAS or others.

Best,
Jerry

Please don't grap everything to take a product, wich you don't like too much, down. It is rediculous. Besides the AntiVir Suite ain't out yet, so there can't be any valid judges about it yet.

I try not to but there seems to be alot of reasons not to like it.

and anyway come on antivir suite beta is like the most stable beta there is. ask anyone testing it.

but i might try SAS or depending on what engine it uses Ashampoo antispyware.

I have great experience with F-Secure in a governement enviroment. It kept our systems clean for many years, and they delivered great support, even on very specifically technical problems.

So you might see things in a bigger context. Things aren't black and white, if it doesn't work for you, ok, but it might work for a thousand others.

And so it has been noted, many times.

Keep in mind that F-Secure AV uses the KAV engine (IIRC) which has excellent detection rates for spyware/adware anyway. IMO, a lag in the spyware/adware updates from Adaware doesn't pose as much of a problem. Also, I'm using BOClean. To echo JerryM, having another good AS application isn't a bad idea.

Since when F-secure has been using those "extended" databases of KAV? I thought that F-secure has only those "standard" databases of KAV.

Firefighter!

I don't know that F-Secure uses KAV's "extended" databases. I am merely under the impression that F-Secure has an admirable record of detecting spyware/adware. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. I have assumed that the KAV engine was largely responsible for this detection rate (again, please correct me if I'm mistaken).

Optigrab

PS Long time, no read, Firefighter!
