Hi.
I am wanting to use True Image with System Restore to roll out our new standard user image across all machines. Before I buy the appropriate licences etc however I want to check on the feasability for my needs.... Because some machines are off site (and therefore a network based image is not ideal) I am propossing to create my image on an external (usb) hard drive and mount the new image to host machines with it. The new standard image is based on a windows xp spII setup so obviously saving the image via usb will use usb 2.0 - my question is when this image is copied on other machines (some currently running usb 1.1) does True Image install appropriate usb drivers to ensure the cloning is done at USB 2.0 speeds Or will the reimaging be usb 1.1 based (and therefore too slow)![]() Thanks in advance. Mark. |

I can only speak for True Image Home which does have USB 2 drivers on the bootable rescue CD. It is likely that other versions of TI will have the same. However the performance of these Linux drivers with some USB drive and controller combinations can be a bit on the slow side. I would suggest a better solution would be to create a Bart PE CD with TI plugin. This would provide Windows drivers which would provide the best speed for all combinations. The target machines which presently only have USB 1.1 at the moment would, as well as being provided with the correct drivers, need to have USB 2 enhanced controllers installed. |
