Default C0064006C

After a successful full back via ftp, I attempted to do a differencial back via ftp and recieved this message. Can anyone shed some light on why differential backup via ftp is not working?

C0064006C: Incremental backup is not possible.

The file you have chosen is not the Acronis True Image backup, or the file is corrupted, or this is not the last volume of multi-volume archive.

Do you wish to proceed with the current file name? If you click OK, the chosen file will be overwritten and the full backup will be created.

Otherwise, if you want to create an incremental backup, click Cancel and choose the valid archive file name or the last volume of multi-volume archive.

Hello johnb175,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

First of all, please note that if you have created a full disk\partition image, you can only append changes by creating a subsequent disk\partition incremental or differential image. In other words, there is no way to create a file-based incremental or differential backup if the initial full backup is a disk\partition image and vice versa.

If that's not the case, please make sure that you are using the latest build of the corresponding Acronis True Image version which is available for downloading in the Product Updates section of your account at Acronis web site.

You can find the full version name and build number by going to Help -> About... menu in the main program window.

To get access to updates you should create an account then log in and use your serial number to register the software.

Please uninstall the previously installed build by following Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Acronis True Image, prior to installing the latest one.

If you are using Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation or Acronis True Image 9.1 Enterprise Server, you should update all components that you have installed including the local version of Acronis True Image, Acronis True Image Agents, Acronis True Image Management Console, Acronis Backup and Group Servers. It is obligatory for all components to be of the same build in order to interact correctly.

Also note that you should create a new Bootable Rescue CD after installing the update.

After installing the update, please re-create the full image and see if the problem still persists.

If the problem still persist with the latest build of the corresponding Acronis True Image version then please do the following:

- Create Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post for both computer that you back up (i.e. computer where the local version of Acronis True Image or Acronis True Image Agent is running) and computer which is your FTP server (i.e. computer you save your backups to);

- Let us know if you are able to successfully validate\restore the full backup located on the FTP server;

- Describe your network structure in detail.

Then please submit a request for technical support. Provide the files and information collected in your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.

Thank you.
