How is Tiny's protection?

Curious to get some feedback about Tiny's protection vs. other firewalls. Doe's it compare well against za, looknstop etc..?? Thanks c

I haven't used Tiny 5.0, however understand that its rule based, and has complex sandboxing control. It has a very steep learning curve, if you haven't used a rule based firewall, or a complex sandbox before you might be very lost on how to configure it.

The sanboxing is the same thing Tiny Trojan Trap was, an excellent program, but highly complex. Its so powerful you might lock yourself out of your own computer if your not careful.

I'm using TPF 5.1 and am very happy with the level of security it provides. I have used Kerio. ZA, Sygate, Outpost etc. In comparison I would say it takes things to higher levels than the other firewalls. When new users try out TPF 5 they are usually overwhelmed and think it is a poorly written program. As they get used to it they realise that it is very good and is complex because it needs to be in order to accomplish the amount of control afforded. You can control virtually every action that takes place on your pc. It comes with pretty good rules straight off. But I miss the loopback rules that I could set with Kerio. Loopback is the one thing I'm not sure how TPF handles.

Thanks for the replies. I'm running 5.0. I didn't know there was a 5.1. Going to check it out now. I like that it doesn't take up alot of resources like Looknstop. I have licenses for ZAP and Looknstop, but wanted to try something different. ZAP is sooooo resources hungry. Thanks again..c

I've heard that a well configured Tiny is about as secure as you can get with a software firewall. But I had a hard time with it - I accidently made myself LESS secure than normal.

I'll be happy with my ZA + BlackICE. Because I'm the type where if I don't see a perfect setup, I have a hard time deciding.
