Out of the products I have tried, I am most impressed with Privacy Eraser Pro (http://www.privacyeraser.com/).

Tune-Up Utilities? Pish-tosh! Why buy a cow when milk is so cheap.

I immoderately recommenderate CCleaner with aplomb.

Some 3D graphic programs leaves hundreds of entries in the registry
when desinstalling. For that, I use jv16 Power tools registry finder.
(Tools > Registry finder > name of file)

To delete temporary files I use CCleaner or I do it manually.

...and Reg Seeker helped me to delete some nasty entries
that I could not remove with my anti-virus. So I keep it for that

So far I haven't got any problems but I always delete the
ones that are safe to delete and don't mess with entries
that I am not certain of. Backing up before removing
any file is certainly a good thing to do.

Ace Utilities for me, I didn't test other competitive programs for a while (since I bought Ace indeed ), but it was far the best when I did, for both temp file and registry cleaning.

I use Ccleaner on other computers, it is very good for a freebie but is very limitated compared to Ace (especially about registry).

well i decided to give Ace Utilities a try and i like it very much.

one thing i dont like is that it separates the history cleaner from junk file cleaner. im so used to ccleaner doing both at once.

nvm, i found i can use the wizard to do everything at once

also, unlike ccleaner and window washer, the plugin section (history cleaner) does not automatically detect programs u have installed.

CCleaner is good for history cleaning.
The registry cleaner of CCleaner is unusable for me due to missing functions.

I tried it but it's got some off-putting aspects. Namely...

1) It injects DLL into all running processes (see screenshot). It MIGHT be okay (??), but neither CCleaner nor Ace Utilities do that, so I shall avoid letting CM DiskCleaner do so. Also, it tried to connect.

2) It puts its stuff into a file that allows no user choice. Also puts an icon on desktop with no user choice & inserts itself into start menu with no user choice as to location.

3) It is 6 times bigger than CCleaner. In fact it is substantially bigger than CCleaner & Ace Utilities combined. Perhaps all that bulk is extra abilities -- but I just want a clean little cleaner.

In other words, NO thanks.

Tune-Up Utilities 2006 and Window Washer 6.0.

Have been using the same combo for a very long time, had no problems.

I dont like the idea of having window washer running a service all the time. But I used to use it a lot.

CCLeaner does the job well, for something free, it's good.

Sorry for my ignorance as I don't currently use a cleaner. But couldn't you use jv16 for the same purpose you use Reg Seeker for?
