When I click the defrag button, it stats to analyze the drive then the PC reboots by itself without defragmenting.
I tried to shut down all my security Softwares but it does the same thing. The only Software I have install since my last defragmentation is FDISR. Any conflicts between them? I have excluded all $ISR files in PerfectDisk. Thanks for help.

I would run chkdsk at boot-time with the "fix" option first and if that didn't improve things I'd be right on the phone to Raxco support..... assuming you aren't at the South Pole (which hasn't got Polar Bears as far as I know ).

Sorry, I don't have other ideas for you at this point. Perhaps someone else has run into this but Raxco support is the best, so don't be afraid to call them if able.

Yeah I meant chkdsk did not find any error. I just sent a Email to Raxco Support.

Hi,
I'll assume your using XP - If so you can run chkdsk from, the "recovery console", providing you have your XP disk. See: http://kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_rec.htm many other sites describe how to use, and even install the "Recovery Console", & may be simpler to understand. The first time I used Recovery Console from XP's disk, I looked at perhaps 5 sites describing, how to use it. I don't know if this will help with PD, but you mentioned a failed CHKDSK. BTW I've been told this is the best & most powerful use of CHKDSK. Good Luck & Take Care rico

Hi,
I had similar issues with PD in the past. Here's what worked for me: Code:
*IF you have Spyware Doctor installed on your pc: Code:
*IF you have a program called FOLDER LOCK.....you must UNINSTALL it as it does NOT allow PD to move certain files when defragging, thus resulting in the crash Hopefully one of these will fix your issue. Good luck. |

Birdman,
Thanks for your feedback. I tried to change the BootOptimize to "N" in the registry, unfortunatly in my case it did not solve the problem. And I don't have Spyware Doctor and FolderLock either.

O.K. problem solved.
It was the driver "fwdrv.sys" from Kerio who was conflicting with Perfect Disk. I had tested Kerio last month and the poor uninstall program had leftover that driver. I removed it manually and Perfect Disk is not crashing anymore. Special thanks to Susie from Raxco Support. ![]()
