Default verisign hold up on .com and .net

Info :

Solutions : with a FW : block IP :
IP 12.158.80.10, 216.52.17.226 and 64.94.110.11

with the hosts file : add :
127.0.0.1 2o7.net
127.0.0.1 sitefinder-idn.verisign.com
127.0.0.1 verisignwildcard.112.2o7.net

These people deserve to be shot. I'm sure they could have guessed the backlash that would come, but why do it?

They are planning something...

Could easily be used to collect a bunch of valid addies and sell them to spammers for instance or to see which are the most current domain misspelled and try and sold them to concurrents.

That's obvious as dozen of sites have being decrying.

But surely they know they will eventually be forced to stop this.surely they can't expect this to last forever as countermeasures such as the bind patch not to mention legal action. Is all that worth just selling some email?

I So why now? Why for such short term gain?

I have a theory......
