anti-malware 3.5 guard crashed!

    :eek: I woke up this morning to find a warning on my screen which stated "The ewido anti-malware guard crashed. Consequently the automatic protection is not active any more!" This is the first time this has happened. I have had ewido since 3/2/06. Is this abnormal? And, most important, what causes this?

    After I wrote down all the information concerning the crash, I clicked off the warning, opened the suite to see if I could see anything on the status or analysis screens, to no avail. Shortly thereafter, I recieved a notice from ewido that my anti-malware was not active, would I like to activate it now. Of course I said yes, but how and why did this happen all of a sudder? Any information would be extremly helpful for further trouble should it arise.

    Mine also crashed with the same message,plus I can't run a complete scan.

    I suspect there might be a bug in the recent updates of Ewido, because I am having the same problem as the previous poster . . . Guard crashed and the scan does not finish anymore. Stops at exactly the same file over and over again. At 33.7%.
    Moreover: a second pc with also Ewido on it, also crashed today and the scan stops also at about 33%. By the way: not at the same file as on the first pc.

    Hi, folks: I just scan Ewido(v.4.0.172a) without any problems. I do remember encountering same hicups as previous few posters, but those were with v.4. beta. I just wonder have you upgraded to v.4.0.172 or 172a? If you do, have you completely cleaned and rebooted prior to installing new one? Hope this info could help our friends@ewido.

    Have not installed 4.0.172a yet.Have been waiting for all the bugs to be worked out first.Plus I'm waiting to see which unintall method of 3.5 works best before installing the new version.

    Hi, I fogot to mention that when those problems occurred, I had v.3.5 and v.4.beta together. FYI. Good luck.

    I also had th4e same crash on all my registered computers. I downloaded ver. 4, uninstalled ver. 3 on my home office machine, and scanned okay, but my registration code didn't work.

    What do i do now?

    so did mine--I started the guard up again but cant complete a scan--looks like it's scanning but isnt

    Mine has never crashed, but I cannot complete the scan as it gets hung up on the same file around 34% every time. We all should probably stay off line as much as possible until this is (hopefully) fixed.:'(

    The Day Ewido 3.5 crashed

    Is it advisible to change over to 4.0 from 3.5 with this current problem? Not only do the scans go forever,I can't cancel out,I have to close down Ewido to get out of it.

    Yes, it is! Although version 4.0 is still quite new, it is a much more stable release than 3.5...

    I would say yes, the current problems in ewido 4.0 are in my opinion minorities and it seems to run stable.

    So it would be not bad for you guys to upgrade. (But'll fix this issue of course)

    I will post the results when I upgrade.I'm still trying to decide whether to upgrade after or before this issue is fixed.If this goes on for more than 2 days I'm going to upgrade.Like most Ewido users I really count on it for the more difficult detections and removals.Up until the crash I considered Ewido the most amazing tool.I just hope it becomes that again soon!

    I reluctantly made the upgrade from 3.5 to 4 and do not regret it at all, it is really a lot nicer, I feel just the slightest bit faster and worth the upgrade, even if you are going to use the free version. I would however uninstall 3.5 before installing 4, seems to work better that way.

    I've been having problems with Ewido in the last few days as well, so if I upgrade to 4.0, do I need to uninstall 3.5 first?

    Yes, it is recommended. And the installer will ask you for it.

    I'm having problems with my ver 3.5 Security Suite as well... I get updates and it hangs on the first EXE it runs across. I still have 6 months left on my license and I now can't download ver 3.5 anymore. The only version is Ver 4.0.
    I have been trying to download 3.5 and all it gets is 4.0. I have overwritten the 3.5 setup. This has turned into a mess.... The 3.5 key doesn't work with the ver 4.0....

    ewido 3.5 cannot be downloaded anymore from us.

    I sure liked this program. Like any good program that works well without a lot of configuring, and easy to use, when it is bought out by another company, they can't leave well enough alone. Thanks Grisoft for fouling up a very nice thing!
    Also, the key you gave for 4.0 didn't work. It said it had expired. Not so!
    I sure would like to keep using version 3.5, or 3.something.

    HI..may be a silly question...but do I have to delete my 3.5 FIRST before I go to the website and enter in my 3.5 license key in order to upgrade to the newer version? :oops:
