Hey - I'm only human.

I keep trying (more or less successfully) to come to terms with "real life" and to restrict the time I spend in these discussion forums. So I have been absent and have not noticed this thread, which I should have.
Also I try to save time by not always responding to every thread that I could say something useful on, thinking that someone else will be ready to say it.
And, yes, I admit it: sometimes I do feel a certain question is a dumb question. Then i will simply not respond to it. (But - in case you're worrying - I never remember who was the one who posted it, so I think (hope) that I'm not adressing any one with bad prejudices...) If I have a good day, and feel relaxed, sometimes I may even ignore that feeling and try to answer the seemingly dumb question seriously and as helpful as I can.


Well, with all that said, it makes me wonder if Jooske is human, too.
She is not helpful alone, she seems to be always present, always ready to share her knowledge about an issue, even ready to spend some more time researching issues mentioned (just so she can help in the discussion), and all that always open-hearted, nice and friendly, answering even the most, say, basic questions. And her contributions to "atmosphere-only" threads like TenForward or the "lighter note" threads over at DCS make for a good deal of the warm and friendly atmosphere I appreciate so much at wilders and dcs. To me this is a miracle. I do mean it.

In (philosophical) ethics "superergoratory" is an action or a behaviour that is of the morally highest value, but cannot be demanded because doing so would be to ask too much of a human being.

So actually I am wondering if I may say:
Keep it up, Jooske!

What I may say anyway: I'm admiring it and want to thank you for it.

Ahh! You're one of the great teachers on the forums with more then advanced knowledge of so many subjects, always helpful and most worth mentioning opening the SS3 scripting world for us and adding the wonderful Screx script for enhanced security and more options for TDS users!

I think i emailed lots of what i thought dumb questions to DCS support in the past, but the reactions were always respectful and showing me the lose or dumb remarks were not stupid at all but had a certain content and to check or change things on my system or to explain backgrounds about those.

Did not create a forum visiting msagent/robot script yet, voice commanded and writing around, so it must have been myself writing.

Wayne said they don't get too many support emails from me anymore at DCS, and i don't take that as a complaint, but part as a little compliment and as a proof of the good funtionality of the forums where we all can contribute!
But to make sure email is still ok i'll write some little notes at times

hmm. maybe so, but then I'm at most a teacher with limited patience, energy and benevolence, virtues which i seem infinite in your case.

Well, I think it's sometimes hard to see that certain content. But I fully agree that it is practically always there. So, to see it and to respectfully and enlighteningly (is that a word?) respond to it is sometimes a hard thing to do - still you never fail to do so, tho. That's what I meant with me sometimes not reacting on questions that i feel to be dumb - i lack the energy to look for the not-at-all-dumb point in it.
Then again, you have your crystal ball to help you

Hi Acadia,

Thanks for the compliment. The main reason for that is that we firmly believe, that the only dumb questions are the ones that are not asked.

However obvious the answer to a question might be, it doesn't matter how you find it, and Wilders is as good a place as any.

And Jooske certainly is one helper that goes to any lengths in providing the answers.

We have not only patience with dumb questions, as we just decided those are not considered to excist at all.
This leaves the --probably dumb-- question if this meana patience doesn't excist either or is it that we put all our patience and time in all the rest?
Let's say the latter
Guess people who have so much patience themselves are the first to recognize it in others, is that true?
Think Pieter's postings counter is growing with amazing speed, even the stars changed color in the meantime, and nobody dares to use his/her computer anymore without a hijackthis log being scanned through and getting Pieter approval.
It's all part of the Wilders experience (exitement?)

And we love DCS and their tools, yes yes yes!

We don't make any difference between licensed TDS (and other DCS programs) users and those who don't know those programs yet if it comes to helping people in the forums, although in case of problems it's easier to refer to those tools we know so well ourselves.
It's a mission of keeping computers clean from intrusions, infections, destruction and making that a happy experience where possible. The eternal battle between light and dark.
It's the mission of DiamondCS, and from the whole forum. You'll notice many people jump one and back between both forums, so you'll see us there in the DCS forum and as licensed TDS operator in the Private TDS forum too.
Close to 4900 postings here, close to 4000 there, a few thousands of support emails, IMs, learning from reading other postings... Good the forum is kept serious and educative where possible so we're not wasting energies here!
Always nice when users are helped with their systems!

What happened?
If you lost your posting for some reason (can happen to all of us) it might be advisable in future to copy your text from or to notepad (or at least to the clipboard) and keep that up after pressing the send button till you see your posting succeeded, especially when it's a longer text. (For people who don't know this: contr+A to select all text, contr+C to copy text to clipboard, contr+V to paste it in a new posting or notepad, wherever you want)

Detox, as far as i read through the forums here, it's a very user friendly habit to help people out as a team where we can As it's nice to help people and see them happy posting, all enjoying and learning, also the more recreative threads.
So let's try to keep frustrations of missing postings and login problems to a minimum for those who have problems at times.

I , like a lot of people , lurked around this forum for a while before registering , and I know reading some of your posts helping others was one of the biggest influences on my decision to join in.
I had no experiance with computers at all until about a year or so ago and was afraid any quastions I had would make me look like a complete fool .
The fact that I was a fool for thinking that way didn't clue in for a while but your posts had just enough of that warm and fuzzy feeling about them to make me and probably many others take the plunge , and here I am .

tks for the help to get here to tell you thanks .............DCS shoud be glad to have you here it was because of the way you responded to dallen no offence intend.d dallen ....... .....that i installed TDS WormGuard and port explorer...and I dont think that i'll regret that dission and if every body at DCS is as nice that makes TDS and all the other products thatmuch nicer to have jsut wish I knew enough to use tham properly. But I guess that if I spend all my time here trying to get every thing running I cant get into much trouble and when I get to 50 you get a cookie

Thank you for your kind words Little Eagle! I love eagles, we don't have them overhere like the big ones over in the Americas, although in other parts of Europe there seem to be a few again. In one of those famous pow-wow dancers groups performing overhere was one person named Little Eagle so your name immediately attracts attention of course.
Anyway, because of how DCS is i love DCS, and i think DCS-addiction is a very healthy and secure addiction anyway. They are one of the main reasons beside the software itself of course why people love their products so much! Support is a very important part of that!
We all learn over the years to use the software on our own systems in our own ways -- some just as a set and forget and others as central on our system about ruling our whole household with it!
So once you have your TDS all up and running make sure to include the speech and scripts parts to enhance the TDS experience even more!
