CCleaner - simple and powerfull disk and registry cleaner.
I do not know better malware prevention tool like this one. CCleaner + WinASO Regdefrag Free do the same like TuneUp.

CCleaner for history and it does a better job than "MS Disk Cleanup".
I still don't have a registry cleaner that meets my wishes. I tried to contact Ace Utilities days ago, no reply.

I use eraser with a list of scheduled tasks that erase my temp folders, cache, history, etc. The scheduled tasks run anywhere from once a week to several times a day. The launcher component (eraserl.exe) of eraser is used with several batch files, cleaning specific lists on demand and when certain programs are started. My browser cache is overwritten when the browser is closed. No user records are stored in my registry for very long as the whole thing is overwritten with a fresh copy every time I reboot.
I also have MRU blaster running at regular intervals and is also run when certain apps are started. Rick |

Currently using CCleaner and Registry Mechanic. Have used a freeware program called Disk Cleaner, as well as the trials of both Tune-up Utilities and RegSupreme (both of which were very good).
Has anyone used or tried a freeware program called EasyCleaner?: http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm Looks like another CCleaner type program, that clears disk space by removing unnecessary files as well as repairing invalid registry entries, etc., ..... |

I use the following, in this order: CCleaner, TuneUp Utilities, JV16 Powertools, and finish with V-com Registry Fixer (Fix-It utilities or SystemSuite).
Why all these and in this order? I've found through much experimentation that each tool catches items the others don't and V-com will catch and fix any remaining errors. Using this combo for a couple of years and never had anything on my systems get messed up. If I only could run one, it would be V-com's RegistryFixer. |

TU2006 is idiot proof.
Yeah I know. But TU2006 is still idiot proof even when you use it. ccleaner

Hi
Newbie type user - CC Cleaner. No problems at all so far. I try and be careful with the registry cleaner and read what it's clearing up before I let it do it's thing. For free I can't fault it.

Other author, other results, I don't trust any of these registry cleaners and they don't allow me to use them in a SAFE way due to missing selection methods.

That's interesting, because most people seem to think the exact opposite. Personally, I haven't had a problem using it for registry cleaning (knock on wood), and it seems to find very relevant entries (files relating to uninstalled programs, etc.), so I have no reason to think it is not "accurate or safe". I'm not doubting that perhaps you had a bad experience with it and that's why you feel this way about it, but from personal use and the vast majority of people I've seen discussing it, I haven't seen many negative comments about it...... |

CCleaner here only as a disk cleaner.
RegSupreme Pro from Macecraft for unused registry entries. About the safety of registry cleaners in general I ALWAYS backup the entries for a week whatever they delete, just in case they might touch the wrong thing. CCleaner and RegSupreme Pro will ask you in their protocol to backup before any operation so they are perfectly safe. The reason I use RegSupreme pro for the registry is that it is a tool made specifically for that and it gives many choices like for exemple 'normal or agressive scanning of your registry'.
