Thumbs up Re: Which software firewall/ AV combo?

Let me be the first #5 no question.

The key wording: "...or would you use..."

I voted for number four since that is what I WANT to use, but I was given a license for number TWO instead, so life goes on

I used Outpost Pro and NOD32 as the only realtime protection software for 2 years and during that time I was visiting "nasty" webpages, downloading from them & I never got infected.

But both KAV and NOD32 are great AVs, they will protect PC along with Outpost Pro anytime.

Useing NOD32 and Outpost I have never got infected, and it will stay that way. I decided to do a online scan with KAV after I did a scan with NOD32. KAV came up with nothing, and KAV took 3 times as long to scan my HD.

Regarding choice 3, it depends on which version of KAV as there are reports KAV 6 & Outpost don't work well with KAV's mail/web AV turned on. When they are disabled, both work Ok, but this mightn't apply to everyone.

Sorry... I could not vote for now coz I'm only on a slow dial-up connection, so I am just using windows built-in firewall with NOD32 trial version. so far..my pc is not infected and it's still running fine.

Wow! It is interesting (and reassuring) to see multiple comments on using Windows SP2 FW + NOD. I voted Outpost Pro + NOD because that's what I use on my comp. The family's shared comp, hpowever, is using Windows FW + NOD. Great stuff!

Imho, F-Secure AntiVirus Client Security (not to be confused with the 'lighter' F-Secure Internet Security) is the very best.

If my current NOD32 license would be upgraded for free to Eset suit, I would probably have a go at it.
My firewall is old and outdated.

Easy for who, Brian? The developer of the software?

Looks kinda interesting.....but a little more like eye candy for geeks than useful info for novices.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for all of the responses. I figured this would be an interesting poll, with some fairly close results.....

But it's actually quite simple. On the right it shows you how much data is being transfered, on the left it shows all the servers and/or people that are connected to your pc. Then you can see their line color and determine how much stuff they are sending to you and vice/versa.

This is awesome for blocking ad servers, wannabe hackers etc
The cool thing about this firewall though, is that if some hacker tries to get into your system (and succeeds by disabling the firewall), it will automatically shut down the PC to stop the attack because Windows can't function without it (when the firewall is installed).

Look n' stop with NOD32 works perfectly on my system. It offers good protection and does not use many resources.
