Well, after botching up an install of NOD32 on Vista Beta 2, I looked a bit into the forums as to why I was getting 100% CPU usage and no network response. Turns out IMON was interfering with the TCP/IP stack, and so the previous solution was to disable IMON. However IMON is a pretty integral part of NOD32, so I decided to try a slightly less black/white approach.
I re-installed NOD32 with IMON disabled, and then after rebooting, entered NOD32 setup, clicked on IMON and went into IMON Setup. I clicked on Setup under Compatibility setup on the bottom of the POP3 tab, and moved the slider to the middle. Initial testing shows that the one change is sufficient to allow NOD32 to work without nuking the Vista TCP/IP stack. Any further insights or tweaks to ensure smooth usage with minimal loss of functionality? |

Beta 2 has already been released through the CTP channel to official beta testers. We're also supposed to be receiving hard copies through post to offset the massive amounts of downloading.
I'll be installing NOD32 tonight on my Beta 2 hard drive and seeing how it goes. |

Its been released to BT. As well as others. Happily I am a BT and currently testing Windows Vista x86 and x64. I have turned off IMON and find NOD32 to behave quite well. ![]() |

I also am testing the Beta 2 release 5254. The system was running fast and smooth at first. Even the drivers loaded flawlessly including some made for XP.
I installed a trial version of Nod32 and the system still ran fine AT FIRST. About an hour later the CPU usage soared and all Internet connections stopped. Soon, even Control panel wouldn't respond. I was about to scrap the system and re-format back to XP, but tried uninstalling Nod32 first. What a difference! The system is now back up and running as fast and smooth as it first was. I am a big Nod32 fan and will now attempt to re-install it using the tweaks mentioned here. Thanks to all who posted their experiences and the solutions they found! |

Did a clean install of the public release Beta (Build 5384) of Vista to the following hardware:
No other applications beyond the above were installed and then attempted install of NOD32, and from the compressed executable, the following four .dll's could not be created as Vista refused to do so:
I then copied it from a USB key that I used yesterday to install for a client, and proceeded to install. Install worked flawlessly and followed ouminan's suggestion. After reboot, IMON WAS active even though I had made certain it was unchecked at install, but AMON was NOT and would not function. Further, the Beta of Word 2007 kept crashing. Disabled DMON, but still had the problem. I did update without problems, but too many problems kept occurring so I uninstalled it. Thought I should pass along my experience. Denny |

Anyone know when ESET is going to get Vista compatibility? A bunch of people want to try the beta and have to use another Antivirus in order to do so. Seems to me that someone at eset has missed the boat.

I have encountered the same problem when attempting to install NOD32 in Windows Vista Beta 2.
In the end, I have no choice but to use Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 14 (Beta for Windows Vista). ![]() |

I share the same frustration as well with Vista Beta 2, Smith. I've tried blackspear's suggestions regarding the winsock repair tool and IMON's network repair feature all to no avail. There's no choice for me but to use eTrust until ESET finalizes the Vista-friendly version of NOD. Christ, I really feel vulnerable without my NOD. That's the price for beta testing though. regards, dave PS. CA does give you a year free as opposed to Trend Micro's six months. |

Well, I will install CA when Trend Micro has expired. Hopefully by Oct 2006, NOD32 is ready for Windows Vista. ![]() |

Will these fixes for Windows Vista beta 2 be part of the NOD32 version 3 release, or will they make it into an updated version of 2.5?

It depends on the issue complexity.

Until NOD32 becomes compatable with Vista, do you guys recommend using the Trend Micro or the CA? Looking for a temporary solution until NOD32 comes back.

Hello,
When you installed NOD32 on the Microsoft Windows Vista x64 Build 5384, did you disable UAP prior to installation and install the software as the Administrator for the computer? Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
