Using POP3 it's imossible (if you mean setting IMON for it).
However it will work with EMON as far as i can tell (MS Outlook). GMail employs it's own AV anyway, plus NOD32 checks all attachements you download from it.

Neither NOD32 or other AV can scan email through POP3S...
If you want that your AV scan emails through POP3S, you have to use use a program like stunnel. Install it and open the stunnel.conf with notepad: [pop3s] accept = localhost:110 connect = pop.gmail.com:995 In Thundebird, under your Account settings, use this: http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/3...lconfig7ft.png Tip: You can hide the stunnel icon from the system tray by adding this in stunnel.conf: taskbar = no This way, your email will be scanned by your AV... Let me know if works with you... ![]() |

What do we mean by neither NOD32 or anyother AV prog out there will not scan POP3 emails.
I have four email accounts and all are POP3 and this also includes Gmail as well. As far as I know Gmail does work under POP3 and I have configured its account settings in my Microsoft Outlook, plus my other 3 are also POP3 accounts. I've recvd emails with attachments from my father and friends and I can rest assure 100% NOD32 has done its hard work scanning every attachment that comes through to my PC on my MS Outlook. I havent done a test as yet with my Gmail but would be interesting to see if NOD32 will also scan for any attachment on my Gmail account.

Albinoni,
NOD32 or other AV can't scan POP3S emails. If you can download your Gmail email through POP3, your AV will scan it, if have support for that... |

Gmail uses SSL to connect to the server. It's impossible to scan it directly.

Sorry I am completely confused here. The Q here is doesnt NOD or any other AV whether it being KAV, Bitdefender, eTrust etc etc scan both incoming and outgoing emails and arent these emails regarded as POP3. Assume if you were to send me an email, isnt that email regarded as a POP3 email.

Ok I understand that but what if, if I'm using MS Outlook to pickup my Gmail emails ? When I ever open up MS Outlook it also picks up my Gmail emails as thats what I've configured it to do.
