The warning from ZA does not say the ewidoguard.exe is trying to make changes; it actually says securitysuite.exe (i.e. the GuiLoader), which presumably is started each time you open the GUI. How would you ever manually update the free ewido if you could not connect to the ewido site because you were redirected away due to Host file changes? That is why ewido monitors its Host file entry

So ewido monitors IT'S OWN "Host entry" for changes? Or does the guard monitor the Hosts file in general (i.e. - alerting to ALL changes)?

Ewido checks for its own entries, it does not protect the Hosts file as such.
