    hey everyone,

    I have a raid 0 and I just bought a 150 raptor. I want this new and faster drive to be my new boot, OS, application and games drive. How can I move my files and data from a raid 0 drive to this new one? How can I prep my new drive for cloning? I tried cloning my old drive to the new one but it won't boot from the new drive? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello noobtuber,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

    The most probable reason for the problem you encounter is that any type of a single hard drive (e.g. IDE, SATA, ect.) with respect to any RAID array (any level) is represented as a different hardware.

    The basic scheme of transferring the operating system to a different hardware is as follows:

    - Prepare your Windows for transferring using Microsoft System Preparation Tool (sysprep) as it is described in this FAQ article;

    - Boot the computer from Acronis True Image Bootable Rescue CD and either create an image of the prepared Windows saving it to any type of the supported media (e.g. CD, DVD, external\internal\network drive, ect.) and then restore this image to the desired location or use Disk Clone wizard to transfer the entire contents of your old hard drive (RAID array in your case) to the new disk;

    - Turn off the computer and disconnect the old hard drive;

    - Try to boot as usual;

    - If it does not boot then fix your hard drive's MBR in one of the following ways (depending on the operating system you use):

    - Boot the computer from Windows 95/98/ME Startup Disk and run "fdisk /mbr" command;

    - Boot the computer from Windows 2000/XP Installation CD and run "fixmbr" command in Recovery Console;

    - If you do not have Windows Installation\Startup disc for some reason then you can fix your hard drive's MBR in the way described in Acronis Help Post;

    - In case it still does not boot, perform Windows Repair Installation as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Please be aware that we do not guarantee the successful transferring of your operating system to a different hardware.

    You can find more information on how to use Acronis True Image 9.0 in the respective User's Guide.

    If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

    Thank you.
