Extensions usually delay the loading time only. Once it,s loaded, browing speed remains almost normal. It,s my experience.

I always assumed they made browsing much quicker, depending on what the priorities of the Firefox user are. Extensions which block the downloading of unwanted content, referral to other sites must. If downloading files can be considered part of the browsing experience, they say that that can be sped up with extensions. If avoiding spoofed sites, phishing scams could be considered to save you time in the long run. If extensions that help you search better are net savers of time...You get the idea...

vimperator, it allows me to do all of my browsing with the keyboard and have familiar vim bindings to do it with. Truly a great and excellent thing. Now I simply fly across the internet

Also the usual adblock plus with easy list, customize google, and fast video download for getting videos off youtube and google when I don't feel like figuring out how to get flash working or don't want flash or don't want to run linux-emulation

These are the ones I always use and find browsing life difficult and a bit boring when I am on a computer that doesnt have them.
I use foxbackup to be sure I never have to find and install all the extensions again when I do a re format or a new snapshot.

Stop-or-Reload Button - Makes the Stop and Reload button behave like a single one

and the STOP! Hammertime one too. everytime you click stop while a page is loading you get MC Hammer through the speakers

Copies text without formatting. Have you ever copied something and been annoyed that the text formatting (bold, font size, etc) came with it? Don’t you wish you could just copy the text itself, without having to copy it, paste it into notepad, then copy it again?

i have that problem all the time!!!

Well, i thought i could surprise Iceni with an extension, but i see you got it already (Update Scanner)
But i got two others and a non extension (the same as Update Scanner):

Update Scanner - "Monitors web pages for updates. Useful for websites that don't provide Atom or RSS feeds."
Mr Uptime - "Have you ever tried accessing a website and it didn’t respond? Of course you have. We all have! Actually, I am using protection covering everything you mention here. Perhaps not the ones you think are best.

LinkScanner Pro is doing much the same as Noscript does as with SiteAdvisor (in a different way). (Although No script is a very good tool I may even reinstall again, it slows me down considerably when I do research.... Too many things blocked unnecessarily by default).

Besides the problem with NoScript is that it doesn't fully discriminate between a good or a bad script, while Linkscanner Pro does scan the scripts themselves for hostile code as with SiteAdvisor. It also works as a pre scan when you do Searches on the many engines providing pre emptive scans. Besides simply blocking a site scripting doesn't mean that you are protected in the advent you need to access the site scripted content. It is almost entirely based on trust and not on the factual knowledge that the one specific script is in fact hostile or not... You could decide the site is good and unlock the script and get infected. It does next to nothing to protect you against that. I am a strong supporter of ProActive script scanning on web sites since they warn you before hand based on fact and also provide a rating system. (Albeit imperfect at the present it is getting better).

I use RoboForm instead of secure login, It does provide more of what I need, and AdBlock Plus is handled by my antispyware...

On a side note, probably one of the most serious form of attack none of those tools can protect you agains is buffer overflow, I use Comodo Memory Guardian, (Previously using DEP only would allow most ret2libc attacks) but without much success as many attacks did get through, although intercepted on my machine by CMG, I can just guess the invisible damage on other's

there are loads of extensions i havnt even tried that are mentioned in this thread.

however, the ones i use are:

IEtab
Adblock Plus



i was also thinking about using fasterfox again, but i aint too sure.

some people say it does speed up browsing, others think it does nothing and the rest think it actually slows down surfing.

until i know, i aint using.
