I have used TI 7 and 8 without problems on this older K6 II 500MHz system with a VIA chipset. TI 9 installs and runs properly under Windows XP SP2.

However, the four builds of TI 9 that I have tried, including 2337, won't run in the Linux environment either when rebooting to restore the C (boot) partition or when booted from the Recovery CD.

When I boot from the Recovery CD and select the TI Full mode, I get an
"ide2: ports already in use, skipping probe"
message and then shortly after that a reboot. There is nothing on the ide2 channel. If I disable the second ide controller in BIOS, the error message is not displayed, but the system reboots anyway.

I can boot from the Recovery CD in Safe mode without drivers and TI runs normally but can only access internal drives.

The TI 9 Recovery CD work normally on other systems, so this is a very specific oddball.

    Any ideas?
