"Patents pending" ?

Hi all,
I'm new here and have been reading up on security threats recently including adware and monitoring spies. I've been looking at various products and notice on Trapware's site they claim "patent pending" on their product.

I can't find any patent application for them at uspto.gov so I'm wondering what on earth could be patented when the app seems very similar to all the others out there?

I'd like to make an informed decision and know as much as possible about the products out there before buying any.
