Default List your Mozilla Firefox extensions...

I only use extensions that are useful:

Adblock - Almost everyone uses it
Flashblock - Block all flash, with whitelisting
ImageZoom - Name says all
NoScript - Allow Javascript per site and block the rest
Objection - Remove Flash cookies
SwitchProxy - Change proxies
Tweak Network - Make Firefox load pages faster
x - Clear Privacy data (History, URL etc.)

My Adblocking technique:
In order to block ads, I use 3 combined host files (Remember.mine.nu, MPVC, Mike's) which all total to 1.5MB, I also use Adblock (filter image ads based on URL) with 3 combined adblock filters (pierceive, rejzor and my own), Flashblock (filters Flash ads), I have a userContent.css to filter image ads based on dimensions (468x60 etc.) and NoScript to block all javascript (and thus javascript ads) it allows me to allow javascript for a certain site and block the rest.

You may also like to give RIP extension a try, http://rip.mozdev.org/ which can remove any content PERMANENTLY (unlike nuke anything which removes temporary). Good for removing text based ads.

I only use three, Adblock, FoxyTunes and ForecastFox, I might give FlashBlock a go though, but I have heard of problems with it crashing FF.

Hi

Anyone knows of a FFox extension that would allow it to load JRE's Java applets without th ebrowser hanging as it does since version FF 1.01 - that would be an interesting and uiseful extension to be sure..

Thanks

I don't think there is such an extension. Because the Java applet loading is part of the browser core - an extension can't do or help anything.

All in one gestures
Cookie Culler
Sound Extension
Tabbrowser Preferences
Adblock
Dictionary Search
Plain Text Links
TabX
Flashgot

Adblock really put Firefox over the top for me. I really like Opera but you need to use a third party program like Admuncher to have the power of Adblock. Many of the other extensions are needed to get the same kind of usability as Opera.

Rather than typing them all out ... here's a screen shot ... there are two that are not in view - they are dictionary search and leechget

Even easier, use another extension to list them out. I use infolister. There are others.

Upgrade? It's no hassle, the profile carry forwards. Most of my extensions are 'hacked' so that they will not be disabled regardless of which firefox version is being used.

Though this isn't strictly necessary of course. At worse, you get a message telling you your extensions are disabled.

"Lean and mean" here, in the spirit of Firefox itself:

Show Image (saves having to open a new page or tab to check a thumbnail image)
Whois
Forecastfox

I suspect one heck of a lot of users are going to dump that last one if they don't drop the recent switch from Weather.com to AccuWeather. Almost nothing but complaints in the feedback area.

I agree I dont know why they make this switch, from what I have seen AccuWeather is not nearly as accurate. For example right now it states it is sunny outside, when it is cloudy and about to rain. I am about to ditch this extension...

Somewhere else that is worth a look is the MRTech website they list new extensions in their "approved" list.

See http://www.mrtech.com/cgi-local/msgb...gi?act=SF;f=12

This suggests that they have done something to check and see that they are not destructive at install (hopefully).

On the other hand they have released their own extension which allows you to remove the delay introduced before installing a new extension. The last I read about the delay it was a security feature to make sure that webpages don't trigger an install (and auto-respond).

Either way its a convenient place to have a look from time to time, as are the other extension mirror sites. http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/ is probably the one I check more often than the others

Having a look though my extensions, I think its probably about time I rationalised them again to unbloat my FF install a little

I´m not a fan of FF at all, but it does have some cool plugins, these are the one I´m currently using, I hope some of them can be ported to Maxthon.

They are called extensions in firefox.

Plugins in firefox refers to something else.

A bit off topic maybe, but can you perhaps also tell me why you think Maxthon sucks?

Question Firefox 1.5 question

Hello, I have the latest version of Firefox installed on my PC. I really like it... and I was wondering if anyone who uses Firefox 1.5 can recommend any good extensions that should be used.

Thank you,

Gracie

Default Re: Firefox 1.5 question

extensions can add most any feature or function. i currently have 43 extensions installed. if u hate ads the get adblock plus 0.5.11.2 with adblock filterset.g updater. if u want more power in customizing tab option get tab mix plus. if u like posting smileys as much as BeetleBoss then get smiley xtra or if u post often in forums, then bbcodextra may be of assistance. if u visit sites where u dont want to register then bugmenot will provide logons u can use. if u use a 3rd party download manager then flashgot makes a handy extension. there are also various extension for checking ur email. the list goes on and on. just got to mozilla update and browse to ur hearts content
