hi, do you use CursorXP or something similar? i think it's free to use, anyway can you recommend any cursors? i'm using these ones at the moment

do you know any that look like normal cursors, not something odd like the "tables and chairs" cursor theme  i hope someone uses different cursors.

Nope, CursorXP cursors are proprietary.. there is a free version of CursorXP, though.

fred, i'm converting the with a progam on Linux so i can use it with Ubuntu.

Notok, when you say "CursorXP cursors are proprietary" do you mean the software and not the cursors? proprietary can be free too though can't it? it just means it's owned ny someone, or would that be freeware, or maybe that's the same thing o_O

Well, I've been on a minimalist streak lately, so I've been just running adni18's "Silver": http://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=858&LibID=25

I've also used ChaNinja in the past: http://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=454&LibID=25 but altered the color to a glowing orange/red to enhance its visibility (don't know whether you can do that with the free version or not).

If I might guess at Notok's intent, I believe he/she means by propietary that the format of the cursor files is specific to the CursorXP program only and kept under wraps so other cursor apps can't use them. So, yes, proprietary can be free for use, for example, in compiled form but the source code is not disclosed or the product is otherwise protected.

thanks everyone. i'm in shock http://ubuntuforums.org/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif i like them all, i suppose i asked for normal looking cursors so i shouldn't be surprised.

thanks, crofttk, i'll have a look at the cursorxp site. BTW there are two mouse pointer themes which come with Ubuntu and ChaNinja is one of them  but it's called ChaninDjoole.

that's really close to the default cursors which come with Ubuntu. the circle and pointer are the same, the other bits are different.
