    HI

Have noticed that when I run a scan, there are several times during the scan there are areas or files that are prevented from being read.

    Example:

.....page file system error opening (file locked) [4]

    or in "Doc's and Settings"

Documents and Settings/username/NTUSER.dat (file locked) [4]

Regardless of what point during the scan this occurs, what remains the same are the terms "(file locked)" and "[4]"

What does the [4] relate to? Is this "locked file" issue a problem?

    Thank you

The locked files you are seeing are in active use and locked by Windows itself, so they cannot be scanned. The first one you mentioned is the Windows swapfile. The NTUSER.dat files are the user portions of the Windows registry. The ones in C:\Windows\system32\config relate to the non-user portions of the registry. There is another file that relates to the BITS component of Windows Update ( C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\EventCache\... ).

    Don't worry. Everyone's got them.
