This 3.5.1 release provides enhanced updating, performance, and bug fixes.

NEW UPDATING OPTIONS IN SPYWAREBLASTER 3.x
SpywareBlaster still offers the built-in Check for Updates feature. This feature is completely free and allows you to keep up-to-date by clicking on a button in the SpywareBlaster interface.

SpywareBlaster now offers SpywareBlaster AutoUpdate - a brand-new updating solution. Just set it up, and AutoUpdate will check at every system boot for the latest updates and enable the newest protection (other options are available).

As much as we would like to provide auto-updating functionality for free, costs are simply too great to make it feasible. AutoUpdate functionality is $9.95 (US) per year, which helps to cover the bandwidth costs. The Check for Updates function remains completely free, as does SpywareBlaster. You only need to pay if you wish to have the extra convenience of AutoUpdate.

SpywareBlaster is freeware.

Enjoy!

Downloaded new 3.5.1. Works OK except: I have 256 Restricted Sites which are not disabled. Went to Restricted sites and manually checked each one and the hit the "Protect Against Checked Items" button. 3.5.1. went thru the gyrations and when finished all 256 were unchecked and in the red again.
What gives? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall

Question Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 released!

I can't uninstall 3.4. When I go to Add/remove Programs, it says ...

The uninstall log file Spyware Balster/unins000.dat is in a format not recognized by this version of the uninstaller. Cannot uninstall.

(XP Pro SP2)

In the program list there is no uninstall option.

You input would be greatly appreciated.
PS : I love your program. It is very user friendly.

U can try reinstalling 3.4 over top in which SWB should show up in Add and Remove or u can go into Program Files>SpywareBlaster Folder and click on the unins000.exe file and uninstall from there.

Thanks. Problem solved. My Add/Remove Programs is corrupted & it is not a javacool problem but I certainly appreciate your very quick reply.
I went through regedit, deleted the HCKeys + got rid of old version through Windows Explorer. Then installed the new version & it is working perfectly.

If you just installed SpyBlaster 3.5.1, I suggest that you try to re-authorize spywareblaster.exe in your firewall and then try to download the updates again.

From the following (Last edited by javacool : January 1st, 2006 at 12:02 PM.) it appears that manual download(s) are not available:

Yes there is - simply download the following five files and overwrite the ones currently in your SpywareBlaster directory (C:\Program Files\SpywareBlaster by default):

Download links currently unavailable - will return soon.

Question Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 released!

Hey everyone I have a major problem and I need serious help!
I have downloaded the new Spywareblaster 3.5.1 & Spyware Guard on my pc as I always have in the past for as long as I can remember, and I have never had any problems until now.
You see the programs run fine until I get to the update section and when I click to get the latest updates my screen freezes, you can't close the programs as they are embedded into the screen and wont close on command, I must force my computer off to get rid of it. The thing is, I have always had these programs and have not changed anything on my laptop, except update these programs for the new versions. I have un-installed and re-installed each about 5 times and always the same problem in the same place. I think the files are corrupted, so after all that, is there a quick fix that I may try? Because I believe that it would be a shame not to be able to use this program.
All suggestions welcome and thanks very much everyone in advance for your help

Angry Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 released!

Just installed 3.51 on a PC that had 3.4 and autoudate.
Forgot to uninstall 3.4 now SpywareBlaster locks up and PC has to be switched of to remove it from the screen - Task Manager dosent kill it.
Tried un-installing and running registry cleaner but still locks up.
2 copies of autoupdate are running as processes in Task Manager.
How can I completely remove all traces so I can reinstall?

Default Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 released!

Hi all,

I've been a long time user of Spywareblaster. I just recently updated to 3.5.1 and I noticed after installing it and try to update I get this message:

"Error Connecting to Update Server

There was an error getting the update information from the server. The server may be temporarily unavailable, or there may be a conflict with firewall software installed on your pc. The update information file may also have gotten corrupted during download.

Please try again soon."

Now I can't even visit the javacoolsoftware website or wildersecurity using my home PC. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.... nothing works.

Anyone experienced this or know the solution?
Thanks.

Unhappy Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 released!

Spywareblaster 3.5.1 does not work on my computer.
When I try to use, message of "This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or virus. Please reinstall it." is shown.
I installed it after scanned spywares by SpyBot-SD and Ad-aware, and viruses by Virusbaster2005.
Spywareblaster works on "safe mode".
OS is WinXP home SP2.
