Here's something i havn't seen before. A stand alone Non install No Surfing Trace, one shot IE browser launcher.
I DL'd it and scanned it online at Jottis and Kaspersky, and also locally with a2 and AntiVir, all came back clean. It's only 14kb and barely registers CPU cycles. I monitored with Process Explorer and observed nothing unusual, apart from the NeatSurf.exe running which i expected of course. All you do is double click the App, which doesn't ask for access through ZA, as it seems to attatch itself to IE, which i allowed. I surfed to MSN and saw this in the Taskbar http://img322.imageshack.us/img322/7861/msn17hl.png I then closed IE, and to my surprise immediatly another instance of IE launched, which i allowed out. This goes to MATCODE's site where you see this message http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5075/ns11wu.png If you disallow it as i did when i repeated it, then it seems to make no difference to the result. It leaves NO trace in your PC of any surfing ! See my Personal Privacy Report from my Panicware's Popupstopper http://img334.imageshack.us/img334/2631/pr18vs.png When i retried without NeatSurf enabling things i normally disable, just to test it, i had 20 items in Cache and 2 Cookies plus the History. If you stop surfing with that instance of IE, then normal service resumes with IE. So it does seem to work exactly as described. Pretty impressive i'd have to say ! Anybody else used it or heard anything about it, good or otherwise ? . . . NeatSurf free!!! Copyright © 2001, MATCODE Version: 1.0 NeatSurf is a powerful and easy to use IE privacy security utility it prevents writing your IE browser's history, cache, cookies, user data, etc... When you visiting cybercafe or using any other public computer to buy something over the internet using your credit card, or entered any other sensitive information into the webbrowser's window, you cannot be absolutely sure that this information is not cached somewhere. NeatSurf is designed to protect you in such situation, to make sure that other people cannot see your data or which sites you visit. Remember or write down this web page in order to quickly find NeatSurf when it necessary. How to use NeatSurf Just download and run NeatSurf.exe. It will start an instance of Internet Explorer and continue to run until IE browser is opened. Platform: Windows 95/98/NT4/NT5/2000/XP with IE 5.x - IE 6.x installed http://www.matcode.com/neatsurf.htm . . . StevieO |

Hmmm sounds interesting. I wonder if it could help prevent your keystrokes from being logged as well. But even if it doesn't, it still looks useful. Thanx for the info StevieO.

You also might try two other apps that run as no-install browsers with all tracks going into a single directory along with your application. They both can be used as portable apps off a USB flash drive, cd, etc. Or, you can run them off your own PC to protect your surfing tracks.
Portable Firefox: Portable Firefox is a fast, full-featured web browser that's easy to use. It has all the same great features as regular Firefox including popup-blocking, tabbed-browsing, integrated search, improved privacy features, automatic updating and more. Plus, it leaves no personal information behind on the machine you run it on, so you can take your favorite browser along with all your favorite bookmarks and extensions with you wherever you go. http://portableapps.com/apps/interne...rtable_firefox Portable Opera (OperaUSB): Opera is a fast and secure web browser that features pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, integrated searches, built-in email and RSS client etc. OperaUSB is a portable package for Opera that does not write to the registry nor leave any data on the guest machine where it is run. http://www.opera-usb.com/operausben.htm Both of these options, imo, are better than anything that is simply an IE shell that re-routes your cache and cookies. Thanks for the heads up though StevieO, it's interesting and worth a look. |
