I am running Comodo Internet Security full package with Prevx SafeOnline and getting along very well. I have licenses to two other security suites I purchased that won't do this well.

I believe in minimalism.

Realtime - Windows firewall, firefox with NS and Request Policy.

On demand but seldom used - SAS, MBAM, HMP and Gmer

Please tell me:
1) Avast! 6 Free is good?
2) Malware Defender + Winpatrol Plus + Windows (XP SP3) Firewall = Firewall (free version) instead of?
3) Avast 6 Free + Malware Defender + Winpatrol Plus + Windows (XP SP3) Firewall is good (provides sufficient protection)?
4) Which free firewall is compatible with Avast! 6?

In my opinion there are great deals currently running. You can download eg the N360 free for 90 days:

http://buy-static.norton.com/prod/ht...r/msft_EN.html

I think you would be interesting to test it further, if looking for something lighter, the link that you have spent the NAV 2011 free for 90 days.

Can he only uses it in real time, and some hardening in Windows.

After that it's just having a good backup configuration and ready, nothing more is needed.

Just my opinion.

Removed AIS 6 from my system.

I'm giving NIS 2011 a shot. First impression? Bleh...It appears to be light and running well, but the UI is (beyond) horrible.

I have a feeling I'll be going back to simplicity: MSE and Windows firewall along with the on-demand programs in my sig.

Now...time to see how difficult Avast is to deal with over there 30 day money back guarantee.

Give ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus a try, I assure you, you will love it!

I was a long time user of ESET, but left them a year or two back for reasons no one but me would care about

And...NIS is now off my system and I'm back to MSE. I may add Prevx/safe online as a backup.

I was thinking about giving Bufferzone a try. I looked at AppGuard, but think I'd prefer Prevx over that.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hello!

I am currently running the Comodo Internet Security suite. I'm having two problems with the antivirus randomly using 50% of the CPU for 5 to 10 minutes, and the Sandbox not remembering what to exclude. That aside it's running great. I've been using Avast! 6 and Panda Cloud Antivirus for the past few months. Avast! 6 I'm sure I will return to, Panda Cloud Antivirus seems a bit buggy and incomplete still.

Avast 6 IS with admuncher is my solution now. This cover it all, nothing more needed. The best suite I've ever tried.
