Changed again after a week of boredom due to the excellent combination I had (Avira, Malware Defender and Sandboxie) - absolutely glitchfree and very strong. My present set-up is no worse actually, only that slight slowdown of webpage loading due to Avast webshield but it's not such an issue.

I just ordered an 1 year 1 pc license for ESET Smart Security for €20.25, which will arrive tomorrow. So that gives me just one day to check out avast! Free Antivirus version 6.0, which came sooner than I expected.
The user interface improved a lot by making just small improvements, like higher quality window buttons, better looking icons, better Current Status screen, prettier onscreen links and the cleaner top area. It is only a shame that the "like avast?" (should be removed anyway) and "upgrade" buttons are in that ugly colour green. Also nice you can opt out for the gadget and WebRep.
It is good to see Script Shield also being included in the Free Antivirus, a good decision if you take their business model into consideration.
I probably won't have the time to test the AutoSandboxing carefully.
Next to that it is only a little slower on-access compared to avast! version 5.

But alltogether it will be clearly the best product offered by the major free antiviruses (AVG, avast!, Avira, Panda and Microsoft), for now ofcourse.
Next products that I am looking forward to: ESET version 5 and Prevx version 4.

Applocker
EMET
Other hardening tweaks

3rd-party:
Comodo Firewall (Firewall - Custom Policy; Defense+ - Clean PC Mode; Sandbox - Disabled)

I've been using this setup for quite some time now...

Guess what, 2 days or 1 day after including an imaging software . . .
It SAVES ME!!!

I went out today the whole day, and for some reason the computer was acting weird, keystrokes weren't working correctly and i wondered if my bro infected the PC.
Then decided to do a recover and VOILA!!
All running smooth now

Good setup safeguy Such setup is always lightweight and secure unless your novice family member/friend wants to use your computer to browser internet and transfer files to/from flash drive.

If you are using Windows 7 why are you not using Applocker instead?

Good to hear that
Imaging software always should be one of the security layer (there are 3):
1. Prevention
2. Detection
3. Cure (image backup software, data backup)

I find SRP to be more rude, if you understand me
I mean, it's like locking down the PC, while applocker is a little bit more loose
Though, i still don't understand applocker fully, while SRP is easy as pie for me

Back to ESET Smart Security, my license just arrived. It is by far my favourite program, it is really unobtrusive, really light and fast, and it has never let me down. I trust it for 110%. I have always used just the ESET NOD32 Antivirus, but I decided to upgrade to Smart Security to support the vendor, and who knows what is in the pipeline for version 5. Which I am looking really forward to.
  • Linksys WRT54G2 router
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit; using an Administrator account
    • Windows Firewall is disabled
    • Windows Defender is disabled
    • UAC at default level
    • DEP and SEHOP enabled for all processes
    • Internet Explorer 9 Beta with default settings
  • ESET Smart Security

Avast Internet Security Pro 5.1.889
Hitman pro
SAS
Mbam
ccleaner
Keyscrambler Pro
Chrome 10
IE9

As I noticed the web shield in Avast does seem to slow loading of web pages. But other then that its fantastic.

Planning to add Trusteer Rapport to online banking,e-mail account, shopping, etc...(unsandboxed browser)
I would prefer Prevx Safeonline, since is lighter, but i had some problems.

Can someone advice me about a good ad-blocker, IE and\or FF compatible, that:
- is light,free and efective
- no need for constant updates
Really tired of ads!

Waiting for a x64 bits MBR GUard

Thanks!

seen some good things about Acronis on here lately so i decided to try it out myself and i do say that i like it and think i will keep using it as my imaging program. The Try and Decide feature seems like a nice one to have on hand as well.
