I really wanted to put Threatfire along with Defensewall on a computer, but Mamutu made more sense as far as I can tell for the primary user of that computer. Mamutu set to querry the crowd to answer what it doesnt itself....I think provides a better overall level of behavior blocking HIPS for the neophyte. Combined with DefenseWalls Policy Restriction HIPS. Im wondering if I should purchase the DefenseWall Personal Firewall Version or just the HIPS, Im behind a router. Or someone could advise a simple non talkative firewall to provide outbound protection.

For teh other computer, I decided to give Online Armor a try and have acquired a license. It seems to have some of the DefenseWall policy restriction functionality via Run Safer....plus fairly simple install and setup for the non expert. Using its HIPS as well, so dont need an off board.

For me it was very chatty and close to locked up my system. The lock up might have been a one-time issue, but the chattiness was very unwelcome considering it's supposed to learn all my software and spoke about learning mode.

Running two software firewalls on the same PC is not recommended. Running a hardware firewall (e.g. router) and software firewall together is fine.

I like a little bit of chatter. Lets me know that my software is actually doing something. Curbs my paranoa a little.
