vague memories of Avira - not a bad av - never caught anything and it did slow me down so it had to go - I have definitely been able to live without Avira for more than 18 months.

So far my OS remains clean and quick with the following setup:

* No anti-virus, but will temporarily install one to run a onetime check, then use FD-ISR to remove it.

* Vista HP with UAC, DEP, firewall, and Windows Defender on.

* Behind a router with NAT firewall.

* Use KeyScrambler for IE 7 only.

* Use Firefox 3 with Adblock Plus and NoScript.

* Use K9 Web protection for content force field.

* Trying ShadowProtect 3.2 (already own Paragon DriveBackup 9) in case I make a real dumb move.

I ditched Belarc Advisor, which is out-of-date.
I added MBSA to replace Belarc Advisor, as a newbie, I need alot of advice.
I added Symantec's NoScript.
I added What's Running, because I never know what's running.
I'm dreaming of a behavior blocker.

Yes the recovery part is finished, now I'm working on the security part. Not big improvements yet. I can't think when it is too warm.

Hi

What's Symantec's NoScript?

For a behavourial blocker can't you just use ThreatFire?

Thanks
