Primary: Appdefend/Regdefend, Online Armor, and Safe'n'Sec

AV: F-Prot or KAV 6.0 beta

Secondary: Spywareblaster, and Spybot installed, but don't run it.

I would also include First Defense partially as a security app.

I would like to add Firefox as a security app :) using it I have no use for antispyware apps.

I have different setups for everyday work and for testbed. My base appplications, however, were always Tiny 2005 Pro + KAV5, with RD and PG. After testing the latest SnS 2.0, I am pretty impressioned by this program. It offers really excellent net access control together with application/process/file/registry protection. It is generally all what I need. The ruleset customisation is sufficient. What I particulary appreciate is the possibility to control application spawning in both direction (parent, child). Comparing to Appdefend it is more complete product, working lightly with no hassle. Without denying a great potential of Appdefend, I must say it is not usable for me in actual beta stage. To appreciate it's quality I will have to wait the final release (at least, I think). Actually, I am seriosly considering dumping all other security apps for my principal setup, leaving only SnS with a resident AV behind a router firewall.

Just curious - Those of you using NOD32, is that because you still have an active key or you just pick it over KAV or others?

For those of you using appdefend or safe'n'sec, do you have the network module active in safe'n'sec and do you mind the network being active on appdefend being you can't shut it off yet?

Yeah I have a valid key for Nod32 as well , but ever since I been playing with KAV\KIS 2006, I had to uninstall it. I never had a problem with NOD32 whatsoever, it is still a good AV.

Never could be too safe there G1111 ! Its all good. I changed my AV for NOD32 for now, since I gave up playing with the whole KAV\KIS 2006. Too much installing and removing messed up my system, had to re-image and went with NOD32 for now. I saw a difference right away from KAV 5 to NOD32 , don't know why I didn't see that before, but NOD32 + L'n'S is working flawless with Ghost Security Appdefend\Regdefend, Online Armor, and Safe'N'Sec 2.0 + AV. I am also behind a Linksys WRT54G firewall router with Sveasoft's Alchemy V1.0 Firmware. I will see what the future holds for me with Kaspersky as I have not given up as of yet. Now a lot of people say that with NOD32, you have to add some kind of protection for spyware\adware as they say KAV is better to block those than NOD32, so maybe I will add Ewido (active) back to the mix though too much of a memory hug. Don't know if I want to add Prevx1 and if it will help though. Also, I used to use RegRun Gold which I stopped from using a while back, don't know if I should add that too this setup - some stuff it had was good like tha anti replace and others might just overlap.

Decisions, decisions. I am happy with KAV 5 now, but if they go with a security suite and don't allow the AV by itself I will switch to NOD32. Waiting to see what happens with ProcessGuard and Appdefend. Right now everything is smooth, but who knows what the next version brings (for any software). Chances are that many won't have the same setup 6 months from now that they are using today (at least not the same identical setup).

I've tried all sorts of combinations with other excellent programs, but in terms
of minimal impact and effectiveness, I think I'll stay with this for a long time.

One thing I have noticed about the current Kaspersky beta (KIS or KAV) is that the installation program is extremely granular. You are given a lot of latitude to not install specific functionality in both packages. From what I've seen, you will be able to install a pure AV if desired.
