Question Where can I learn all about Certificates and Authorities?

Do you know where I can find any info on the following?

Beginning certificate info covering the basics.
All about certificate authorities and how they work.
All about the root certificates.
How to manage certificates and certificate authorities properly for security.
How to troubleshoot certificate problems and double check if your certificates (and CA) have been altered.
How to rebuild your certificates and CA if necessary.
Types of threats relating to certificates (and CA) and how to protect against them.

Any help jumpstarting this learning process would be appreciated.

Certificate management is done by your browser so check its documentation for details on adding root certificates (e.g. in Opera 8 this is via Tools/Preferences/Advanced/Security/Manage Certificates/Authorities).

For more information on how SSL and certificates work, articles like this Straightforward Explanation of SSL and HTTPS are a good place to start.
