Norton 2006 vs DrWeb 4.33

Like hear your comments about General Terms how would be at better option beteween Norton 2006 and DrWeb 4.33, good point to considere is the resource use, Have at Laptop with Pentium Centrino 1.7 and 1GB in Ram but run hard applications,

Dr Web is far lighter in footprint to Norton, so there is no contest in this regards. The two running processes of Dr Web on one of my Win XP systems are only taking up 2.14MB VM. Further, if you are restricted to dial-up, again Dr Web would be the better choice of the two because of its very small updates and it is cheaper to buy and renew.

However, looking at the major testing sites, Norton seems to have the edge in both ITW and in zoo malware detection and there are still some minor bugs reported in the new version of Dr Web.

BUT the best advice is to try out the two programs and see which one suits both you and your machine.

But we can't forget that unpacking capability, where DrWeb is superior compared to Norton. Also the DrWeb update frequency is second best, next to Kaspersky. About heuristics I think we all already know which is better.

Are you comparing the latest versions of each or is this some old war story experience. How do you know that Norton 2006 hasn't improved their unpacking and that Dr Web was/is superior?

Oh, but there wasn't a much improvement in regards to Norton's engine. On the other side, DrWeb's engine was much improved. Anybody who tests av will confirm this.
