Default TI for a SuSE 9.0 box / a general question

dear acronis-experts,

please allow me a question: i'd like to backup a SuSE linux 9.0 box with Acronis. as i cannot access the server physically, and as no CD-ROM or PXE-boot is available i'd like to know whether in the case of an "emergency" i can restore the machine by asking the provider (where it is housed) to set up a "fresh" image of any linux-os (just to be able to access the machine from remote) and then restore the backed-up image via ftp on the _same_ partition (perhaps at the next reboot) the second thing i'd like to know in advance (before buying a version of acronis) is the other way round: can i make a backup of the partition directly to another ftp-host? and: will there be problems if i have just 10% HDD space (= about 4 out of 40 GB) available (for temporary space?)? which version of acronis should i use? the kernel-version is 2.4.25.

i'm grateful for any kind of help
thanks a lot in advance!

Hello tustudium,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please be aware that Acronis True Image does not require additional hard drive space when working in standalone mode. All operations are performed via computer RAM.

For your purposes we recommend you to use Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server. It supports remote backup and restoration of various operating systems including Linux distributions.

We recommend you to download and install the free trial version of Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server to see how the software works on your computer. With the trial version of the product you will be able to fully use the installed version for 15 days and manage up to 5 remote computers. The bootable rescue media will be limited to restore function.

You can find detailed information about and instructions on how to use Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server in the respective User's Guide.

If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

Thank you.
