Problem with Internet Download Manager / ESS

When I download large files that contain multiple parts, my Internet Download Manager gives me an error saying

"Cannot open local file for writing while joining downloaded parts into one
file"

When I contacted the IDM Support, this was their reply:

"This happens because some other application does not let IDM to access
these files. Most probably it is some security application like
Antivirus/FireWall that tries to control all disk activity. Try to check
your settings in such applications.

What setting do you think that I should change in ESS to help fix this issue?

Does disabling real-time or web protection during the download make a difference? Do you use default settings, ie. web protection was not set to check the download manager's communication in active mode?

Well i'm trying a download now with the Protection disabled to see if it makes a difference.

But this error happens randomly sometimes, so if it did work this time isn't a guarantee that the issue is resolved

Another possibility is to change the IDM configuration so that it doesn´t segment the downloads. When the download uses the full bandwidth available, this doesn´t degrade significantly the net download speed.

It downloaded fine while Antivirus protection was disabled

Wasn't a part of the file detected and removed before IDM could assemble the final file from all of the parts?
