Question smiles replaced

just curious........sometimes when making a new post all of my smiles are either replaced with words or replaced with other peoples avatars. for example; right now i have a lima bean and a canadian flag in the smiles section while writing this. sometimes when i go back and look at old posts, they have different smiles in place of what i had originally put? thought i read a post about this happening to someone else before, but i couldn't find it. just curious as to what causes this.

Are you using FF with the Network Settings Tweak active?

Hit Ctrl + F5 to completely refresh the page which should clear it up, or revert back to the default settings.

i don't use this particular tweak, but i have changed other settings in ff. since i just tried ie and didn't have the same problem, i'm now convinced it is a firefox issue. i think one of the speed tweaks you mentioned in the link bubba gave me could be the culprit. i can get everything to go back to normal after running some of my cleaning apps, but it's been happening for a while now, and just starting to wonder why. it is kinda funny at times, i'll have to try changing some things back to their default setting i guess. either that or i have lost it!

I've had that exact same problem on occasion with avatars replacing smileys amongst other things while using FF and that's with no tweaks at all.

Never happened when i used to use IE, or Opera which i use now.

Try tools/options/privacy and clear the cache of Firefox. I once had a similar graphical anomoly and this fixed it for me.

i'll have to look into that. i do run imon at the 'maximum efficiency' level. i can always clear the problem, but it's only a matter of time until something else comes back to take over my smileys. the only time it's really irritating is when a big pic (like the lima bean) takes over a smiley face. then in every thread i read, the lima bean is inserted instead of the smiley face it took over. makes some posts difficult to understand, lol.

Glad it got worked out... Only takes a second or two to clear the FF cache (I only ever had to once so far) so I stick with it...

Also, ahem.. Nat.. I believe the Lima Bean is a Legume...

Yes, dear Detox, I'm aware of this.

But then tell me the secret of why people sing that...you know - song -
the "magical fruit" ?? AAH I know. It's for the rhyming's sake, huh?

Hope I'm not stirring up something related to this.

"Tomatoe"-fruit or veggie....

As the Thread Starters Question has been answered, and no new relevant questions/discussions regarding FireFox and the board have been raised, I will now "Lock" this thread, before it continues any further down the 10-Forward path, to which I am guilty of having contributed to also.
