Nod32 best for viruses, what's best for Trojans?

Virus Bulliten clearly shows Nod32 as the unbeatable winner for protection against virus infection, what is the best for protection against Trojan's?

Is there an independant site to back this up?

I think the general consensus is that the best three AT programs are BoClean, TDS-3 and Trojan Hunter (in alphabetical order)

Hello, There..

I am jumping to another area..now.. in hopes of deciding what to do..

I am trying to decide between possibly buying either TrojanHunter or TDS -3. Diamond CS has a special fro all 3 products, and I can see the improtance of TDS-3 and Port Explorer, but if I own NOD32, why would I need WormGuard? Would you give me your opinion?

You're kind of changing the subject of this thread, Straight Shooter, but read the info on Wormguard.
I think you'll see the different approach, in comparison to a program relying on virusdefinitions.

I've tried them all.. I'm convienced TDS is the best!

Congratulations Straight Shooter, you made the best buy with security software available, and with your NOD32 together for the viruses you really have a wonderful protection and you're kept in the drivers seat in your defence. Defence can be so interesting and nice to learn all about!

I've only tried the one and it's one of the "so called" top three. I opted for BOClean and it is dead easy to use. Just hit the update button now and again, seems all there is to it. Also, updates are emailed to you when available.

Yes, TDS3 is easy enough to use. Actually it is SIMPLE to use. I know a lot of people always say what a steep learning curve it is, but that is ONLY IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE REST OF THE GOODIES. Once you get the basic set-up sorted how you want it to start-up, what to scan, etc. it is very easy.

Blackspear, hello. Truly, TDS3 is a superb program. You wanted to see a test site with the results, I did have two sites where they tested, but unfortunately I accidentally deleted the folder I had several test results in and for the life of me cannot find them again.

You will have to take my word on this part I can remember from one of them.

Also TDS3 is the *only* program currently that STOPS infection [with Execution Protection installed and program running] in the first place. All other programs rely on detection then deletion.

I also know a lot of people use Trojan Hunter and they love that program. I cannot comment, because I have only ever used TDS3 [hopefully TDS4 *soon*, lol]

Anyhow, here is a great link to see *exactly* how TDS3 detects Trojans. 17 different ways BTW.

Ultimately the choice is yours after you weigh up all the options or at least try a couple of programs.

I went with TrojanHunter.. TDS was just Too intensive on my machine.. I liked it, but it caused some problems and I didn't want to deal with them..

It's not like I need the practice at all, spent the last 3 decades on a keyboard for work, I have gone through FIVE different types of keyboard layouts, bet you thought there was only the "typewriter" style huh!

Nevermind, it's what is comfortable for you. I have heard good reports about Trojan Hunter also, so am sure you will be happy, that's the important thing, no matter how good a program is, if you do not feel at ease using it, it can become quite frustrating and using your PC becomes a chore.

If an av has some 73 % of overall virusdetection capability than for example with Kaspersky, so there will be plenty of people who are thinking that with Kaspersky you are in better safe than with that 73 % one!

I also went for Trojan Hunter 3, I was going to get TDS but after trying to get the trial ver to work succsefully on my system I gave up. Found TDS tried to monopolise all resources and ground things to a halt, not exactly got a slow system either - Athlon 2200+ Thoroughbred OCed to 1900mhz core, Win XP maybe it wanted more memory than my 256mb DDR.
On starting TDS things would usually end up hanging on the initial program startup scan so ended up going for my second choise that was Trojan Hunter 3 which so far I am happy with.

Pieter_Arntz is right but it also depends on if your a newby or a little familiar with security

For example for newbys its Nortion Boclean Tds not cause its easy but cause its a must have then Zone alarm pro

for experts its Nod ,Tds,spy cop one more antivirus back up,Hard ware fire wall and usealy any typ of complicated software fire wall rule base just in case lol

Cheers I thought as much, after hearing others say TDS was resource hungry I thought that the only thing possibly lacking om my system would be RAM. I have been meaning to get more / faster mem anyway probly get some this w/end.
