I rolled out 150 installs of Nod32 4.x over the last 6 months. This weekend I installed about 450 more using Zenworks. I removed version 3, rebooted, then installed version 4.
About 20 PCs didn't install correctly. Nod32 is installed, but the registry keys are not there. EKRN has a lock on the registry so I can't change/fix those values. I can't add/remove Nod32 because it's not listed. I can't disable the Nod32 service as I get accessed denied as a domain admin. What's the fix here? |

I used killbox to kill and then replace ekrn.exe on reboot. Rebooted twice and removed the registry entries.

While Killbox would probably work, I found something else that is easy.
I've had about a dozen PC's where Nod32 fails to install correctly, will not uninstall, and is left broken. Step #1 is login as admin and configure in advanced settings to disable "Enable self defense" Step #2 you must reboot Step #3 reinstall Nod32 Step #4 go into settings and Start Realtime Protection Step #5 Go back into advanced settings and re enable self defense and reboot. |
