I always liked Bing. Whether this is a good move for Bing or not it's difficult to say. I'll tell you when it gets this side of the pond.

Hopefully they start doing something with Bing as it's lost over $5.5 billion since it's launch. I should qualify that it is not Bing that has lost this amount but Microsoft online services which Bing is part of. Maybe Bing itself is actually making money. I do not know.

I doubt it, it still has a long road ahead of it if it's ever going to compete with Google.

Sounds like it could be a bit of a dumb-arse idea from the Microsoft marketing department.

Hmmm, social networks integration in a search engine, well it doesn't works for me since i don't own any social network account.

My guess is that this could finish Bing. Which is a bit of a shame because it is nice to have alternatives to the Google Borg.

I use Bing because I refuse to use Google. The new Bing might be good for the social network crowd but I'll have to wait and see. If it makes Bing harder to use or more confusing I'll have to move on.

This is like a beta, you won't have to sign in when it is ready for everyone.

BTW, the changes are not limited to the social networks integration:

Quote:
Microsoft has reworked the search results from the ground up and the results is a three column layout that you see at the top of this article. On the far left are the algorithmic results. These results will not be cluttered with social status update (a dig at Google) and give you the content based on the machine generated results. The center column is what Microsoft is calling ‘Snapshot’ and it will show relevant information based on the item that you are searching. This is where Bing will show relevant maps, photos, and other non-text based content. The most dramatic change will be the third column as this will be the social aspect of Bing’s new layout. Microsoft calls it “social search done right” as getting things done often involves the help of others. The idea is for the social aspect to not impose restrictions on any of the search results but instead to help you find the information that you are looking for. There are several key features as the sidebar allows you to easily ask friends, share your results with friends and Bing can even help you locate friends who are experts on the subject matter. You can learn more about the new social features here.

To be honest, I had nothing against the old Bing. My guess as to why it's losing money is that 'Google' has been burnt into the collective unconscious so thoroughly as the only real search engine, that all of the gimmicks & slogans such as Spend Less Time Searching, More Time Doing aren't going to improve matters for Bing.

You have to remember that I am a rather cynical British person though.
